Rajat Roy is a journalist of wide experience in both print and electronic media. In 1981 he joined Aajkaal, a Bengali daily, whose founder editor was legendary journalist Gourkishore Ghose. He joined Anandabazar Patrika in 1987 and in the next 18 years gathered valuable experience while shouldering responsibilities of various nature for ABP. He worked as a member of Delhi bureau and later headed the bureau. Back in Kolkata he became the News Editor and held that post for eight years before being promoted to the post of Associate Editor. In 2005 Rajat left ABP to join Kolkata TV, a start-up 24×7 vernacular news channel. He started writing for a Delhi based political magazine ‘Hard News’ and taking part in various news programmes for different TV channels. Since 2009 he has been working as an independent journalist having regular arrangement with Business Standard as contributor and Kolkata TV as an editorial adviser. As a journalist, besides covering a number of national events, he visited a number of countries to cover international events.
